The TTT: a mock exam with a real exemption
The CBR's intermediate test is a kind of mock exam: just as long as your practical exam, with direct feedback from the examiner — and if you perform the special manoeuvres well, you're exempted from them. Since 30 March 2026 the test is fully back at the CBR, including in Leiden.

The intermediate test (TTT) lasts 55 minutes in total, of which the drive itself is about 35 minutes — exactly as long as your practical exam, with the same components. You don't get a licence with it: the examiner gives direct, honest advice on where you stand and what to practise.
The real win is the exemption: perform the special manoeuvres well, smoothly and safely, and the examiner will not test those components again at your next practical exam. Less exam pressure, more focus on the rest.

Can you take the TTT?
The CBR's conditions are clear — and without surprises:
You are at least 16.5 years old.
You have passed your theory exam and that result is still valid on the day of the test.
You request the test via your driving school, after authorising it.
The CBR requires no minimum number of lessons as a condition.
How long does the exemption last?
Until your first practical exam after the test — there is no end date. If you fail that exam, the exemption lapses. With multiple intermediate tests, only the last result counts. An exemption earned in an automatic only applies to an automatic exam; in a manual it applies to both.
Where do you take the test?
The CBR exam centre for our region is in Leiden, at Smaragdlaan 99 A. Please note: the last practical exam there is on Friday 23 October 2026 — from Tuesday 27 October 2026, practical exams in our region are temporarily held at Van der Valk Sassenheim, Warmonderweg 8. The test is booked through us — all you have to do is show up and drive.
What does the intermediate test cost?
The CBR charges €143.50 for the intermediate test. At Rijschool Duwo the TTT — including guidance and the car for the test — is already included in All-in A and All-in B. So you know exactly where you stand up front.
