The CBR exam centre in Leiden is moving (temporarily) to Sassenheim
Anyone taking their driving test in our region knows the familiar address: the CBR exam centre at Smaragdlaan 99 A in Leiden. That is changing: the centre holds its last practical exam on Friday 23 October 2026, and from Tuesday 27 October 2026 the practical exams of our region are temporarily taken at a different location. What is happening?
The CBR has announced that the exam centre in Leiden is closing: on Friday 23 October 2026 the last practical exam takes place there. From Tuesday 27 October 2026, practical exams are temporarily taken at Van der Valk Sassenheim, Warmonderweg 8 in Sassenheim. What does this mean for your exam?
Nothing changes about the exam itself: you simply take your CBR practical exam, booked through us after your authorisation. What changes is the place where the drive starts. Exam drives scheduled by the CBR on or after 27 October 2026 start temporarily in Sassenheim instead of at the Smaragdlaan. Where exactly your exam takes place is shown in your reservation and is easiest to check on cbr.nl — if in doubt, just ask us; we keep track of this development for our learners.

Check shortly before your exam day where your exam starts. That way you drive to the right address relaxed and start your test without rushing.
Where is the temporary exam location?
The practical exams are temporarily taken at Van der Valk Sassenheim on the Warmonderweg 8 (2171 AJ Sassenheim). The CBR describes it as a temporary situation; an end date for when the exam centre in Leiden (or another permanent home) becomes available again is not yet known. From when does the new location apply?
The switch falls between Friday 23 and Tuesday 27 October 2026: on 23 October the last practical exam takes place at the Smaragdlaan, on 27 October the first practical exam is held in Van der Valk Sassenheim.
